ART PROJECT 'YAKUMO KOIZUMI-where clouds are born'' an international art project
Yakumo Koizumi- where clouds are born
Am I one?
Am I one and only soul?
No, I am a crowd,
an inconceivable crowd.
I am the generation of generations
century of the centuries
Endless are the times
that the gathering of all that I am
has dispersed in infinity
to be gathered again
Maybe, having been burnt
in trillion of years
in various dynasties of the sun
the best of what I am
will be able to meet again.
Lafcadio Hearn
Fascinated by the texts of Lafcadio Hearn, a group of 15 artists from Greece and abroad open a visual dialogue with their guide another Odysseus , who guides them through allegorical myths and traditional Japanese tales in a separate, distant culture, that of Japan. They are looking for common places and ways of expressing East and West, linking the open spirit of Lafcadio Hearn, or Japanese Yakumo Koizumi, a writer of Greek origins and Irish roots, who in Japan found the family he always wanted and " whose pen was even stronger than the sword of the glorious nation he loved, a nation whose greatest honor was that he accepted him in his arms as a citizen and offered him, alas, the tomb. " The artists of this art project, on the occasion of L. Hearn's writings, open a bridge of communication with each other, with frequent meetings and exchanges of views over a year, searching for hidden signposts in relation to tradition, non-linear connection of time, the intense metaphysical concern and the search for the identity of the wandering heroes, which we encounter in both Japanese and traditional myths and other peoples, concepts of timelessness, which also concern modern man. By asking for the free, visual expression, through different visual arts and techniques, each artist of this project creates his own personal masterpiece, seeking his first conversation with the texts of Lafcadio Hearn, and the rest of his works and finally to communicate visually through the visual language with the viewer, transferring to him a new experience, that of the co-spatiality of art that knows no boundaries but only bridges.
