The results of the 4th Art Thessaloniki Fair
A huge success, more than 15.000 visitors and a 20% increase comparing to 2018, did the 4th Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair mark in TIF -HELEXPO in pavilions 10 and 9, during 21-24 of November, connecting the wider audience to contemporary art. It gave prominence to Greek art beyond borders, since; there were visitors from 24 countries, which is the main task of such an event.
There was a highly educating report and besides of the artworks, there was also entertainment and actions. The participation of 38 galleries, of whom the 19 were foreign from 12 different countries, the artworks of the honored artist Billy Zane, the 4 museum exhibitions: “Unexpected Dialogue” with Pablo Picasso’s ceramics & Mice Jankulovski’s paintings from the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Drawing Skopje, with Manos Stefanidis as curator, Nikos Verniko’s exhibition with artworks of the American artist Dennis Oppenheim, Papadimitriou exhibition with 24 artworks of artists that represent the 1980 generation, a great part of the prestigious Ethnographic Center George Melikis- Mask Research Center of the journalist George Melikis, as well as, the multiple Projects, raised the bar, turning Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair to a statute with international character, just like the foreign Art Fairs.
Moreover, it was highly important the fact that students of secondary education visited the Art Fair on Friday 22/11/2019, where there were guided tours about culture and art. All of the students got a special document, which includes information about the statute of Art Fair, sponsored by EUROBANK.
For the very first time the Northern Greece Businessmen Cultural Corporation (PEEVE) in collaboration with the Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair established the “MATAROA” awards, where 10 chosen artists presented their artworks in individual booths and on Saturday 23/11 they received their financial prizes.
On Friday 22/11 WAVA (World Association of Visual Arts) after a specialists’ committee evaluation gave the following awards: for the best gallery, the best curator and for the best artist.
Art Fair’s visitors came from Europe, Asia, Africa and USA. The exhibition attracted also many collectors and youngsters from Germany, Great Britain and Italy, as well as academic teams, from the Fine Arts and Architecture universities.
In addition, the Art Fair’s commercial character was also remarkable, since the participating galleries bought and sold many artworks, at the same time a successful connection among galleries and artists happened, creating communication channels.
TIF HELEXPO’S administration staff, the Art Director Pantelis Tsatsis and his team, would like to thank everyone who gave meaning to the 4th edition of the Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair with their presence and participation. Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair will keep up supporting the Fine Arts and its creators, promising to change the artistic scene of Thessaloniki, both to local and international level.
Our new date for the 5th Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair is arranged for the 26-29 November of 2020.
