The Museum is dedicated to the internationally renowned Greek artist Konstantinos Xenakis, who donated 171 works of all the periods to the Municipality of Serres, envisioning the creation of a unique museum in the city of Serres. Also, 13 works by the artist was donated to the Municipality by the Aristotelis Naniopoulos. 

The Museum of Contemporary Art "Gallery of Konstantinos Xenakis" was created as part of the Cultural Dipole project "Creation of a Cultural Diploma in the Interregus Area" of the Interreg V-A "Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020" and operates under the responsibility of the Municipality of Serres.
